Affiliate Disclosure

The short version

ilovemycars.com is reader-supported and contains affiliate links. If you click one of those links and buy something, we may receive a commission from the retailer. This never increases the price you pay, and it never buys a brand a better review. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

This disclosure is made in accordance with the United States Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), the UK Competition and Markets Authority’s guidance on hidden advertising and the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s guidance on influencer and affiliate advertising, and equivalent consumer-protection rules in the other countries we publish for.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is an ordinary link to a retailer with a tracking code attached. If you follow it and then buy something — sometimes the specific product, sometimes anything else in the same shopping session — the retailer attributes that sale to us and pays a small percentage of it as commission.

From your side, nothing changes. You go to the same shop, see the same price, get the same warranty and returns rights, and deal with the retailer exactly as you otherwise would. The commission is paid out of the retailer’s margin, not added to your bill.

Where these links appear

  • In articles and buying guides, usually on product names, “check price” buttons and comparison tables.
  • In our calculators and tools, where a result may be accompanied by relevant product suggestions. Every tool prints a disclosure immediately above those suggestions, so you see it at the moment it matters rather than only in the footer.
  • In some outbound links that pass through our own redirect (for example /go/ URLs). These exist so links can be maintained and audited in one place; they lead to the retailer’s own website.

Not every link on the site is an affiliate link. Links to manufacturer specification pages, safety regulators, standards bodies, research papers, news reports and reference material are plain links that earn us nothing, and we use plenty of them.

Programmes we participate in

We are, or may at any time become, a participant in the following kinds of programme:

ProgrammeWhat it covers
Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and its international equivalents (Amazon.com, .co.uk, .ca, .com.au, .de, .nl, .sg and others)Car accessories, car care products, EV charging accessories, diecast and toy cars, ride-on vehicles, RC cars
Retailer and manufacturer affiliate programmesChargers, tyres, dash cams, toys and specialist automotive retailers, usually via networks such as [Awin, CJ, Impact, ShareASale, Rakuten]
Service and comparison partners[Car finance, insurance comparison, breakdown cover, EV tariff partners — list only those you actually join]

Amazon-required wording: ilovemycars.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.

About prices and availability

Prices, discounts, stock levels and delivery options shown on this site are taken from the retailer at the time of writing or of the last automated update, and are accurate only as of the date and time indicated. They change frequently and without notice. The price shown on the retailer’s own page at the moment you check out is the price that applies to your order, and it is the one you should rely on.

Where a product page shows a price that looks wrong, assume the retailer is right and tell us so we can fix it.

How we protect our independence

  • Verdict first, links second. Research and conclusions are completed before anyone checks whether a product has an affiliate programme.
  • Commission rates are not a ranking factor. We do not sort recommendations by what pays best, and we regularly recommend products that pay us nothing at all.
  • We publish negative conclusions. “Skip this one”, “wait for the next model” and “you do not need this” are all normal outcomes here.
  • No paid placement. We do not sell positions in rankings, scores, or inclusion in a “best of” list, and no advertiser gets to review content before publication.
  • Samples are declared. If a manufacturer lends or gives us a product, the page says so, and it does not change the verdict.

Our full process, including how we handle corrections and the role of AI assistance in drafting, is set out in the editorial policy.

If you would rather not use our links

That is completely fine, and the content stays free either way. You can search for any product we mention directly on the retailer’s website, or type the product name into your browser instead of clicking through. Blocking third-party cookies or using a tracker-blocking extension will also prevent most affiliate attribution.

If you do want to support the site at no cost to yourself, using our links is the simplest way to do it — and it is the reason the calculators can stay free and account-free.

Questions about this disclosure

Ask through the contact page and we will answer plainly, including about any individual link on the site. For how affiliate cookies work and how to control them, see our cookie policy; for how we handle personal data, see the privacy policy.
